Hadrian's Tipi Press Launch 2017
Hadrian's Tipi is back for round 2 and is bigger and better than last year. Originally situated outside of Newcastle Central Station, the venue is now in the new location of the old Odeon site on Pilgrim Street at the bottom of Northumberland Street. If you visited Hadrian's Tipi last year, you'll remember just how amazing it was then... well, forget that as this time around you're in for an even better treat.
I was kindly invited to the press launch and, naturally, I jumped at the chance. I dragged the hubby (not like he took any persuasion) and my little boy as this time around the Tipi is child and pet friendly. Upon arrival, I'm not going to lie, I was pretty goddamn excited... the array of fairy lights in front of me ignited the Christmas mode inside of me - well jingle my bells, this was it, let the festive cheer commence.
We were greeted by the owner, who has the very apt surname of Holliday, with a warm cup of mulled cider, which I've never tried before and it certainly won't be my last... move over mulled wine, it's all about the mulled cider this year. This year, not only is the original Tipi at the new site, but there is also an additional bar, street food village attached and... wait for it... a photo booth which TAKES CARD which I was rather excited about as I rarely carry cash and love a good selfie. We weren't in the venue for two minutes when my little one set his eyes on the sweetie and Nutella stand, £10 later and sweetie supplies in hand, it was time to go exploring.
The atmosphere at the venue completely blew me away, everyone was super friendly and the conversation was flowing. The different variations of food stalls available ensure that there is something for everyone. I opted for the duck loaded fries from Hatch 76 which were only £5 and you got absolutely loads... I was so content, even so that when I bumped into my pal Pixie who I haven't seen for donkies I let my little one do all the talking whilst I chomped on my chips... food is life, I'm not gunna lie.
The venue is done out amazing, I was in completely in awe walking around, it's as if I was walking through a winter wonderland with fir garlands, a roaring fire, faux fur throws, twinkling fairy lights with the quiet murmur of music in the background with live music happening daily. This year, with the venue being marketed as child friendly, there will be the addition of a Santa's Grotto making its grand appearance very shortly, so watch this space for a further review... I don't know who's more exited for this, my son or myself. Judging by just how magical the setting is at Hadrian's Tipi I can only image just how amazing the Grotto will be.
Needless to say, I was more than impressed with the Tipi this year. I didn't think it was possible to out do last years venue but, boy was I wrong. The location is perfect for families who fancy popping in for a hot chocolate after visiting Fenwicks Window or for those wanting to enjoy a more boutique and individual night out - which if that is a case, you MUST try the cocktails from Quaff in the food village, 2 cocktails for £10 make it so easy to try all 4 of their cocktails... not that I'm condoning excessive drinking here. Hadrian's Tipi, it was a pleasure. Thank you so much for inviting us along and it's safe to say, we'll be back!
Please note: children are allowed into the venue up until 7pm.
