Someone who create magic for clients without a wand.
Since I was 16 I’ve always had a love hate relationship with my hair. At this age I had beautiful, long natural hair which when dried naturally had a gorgeous natural bounce to it. It was also at this age where I had the ingenious idea of dying my hair blonde... my hair was dark brown (as I write this I’m shaking my head in disgust). My hairdresser at the time refused my idea so off I went to the shop, bought a hair stripper and blonde hair dye and attempted to do it myself... wow, can you say lions mane?! I completely ruined my beautiful long locks and had to have all my hair chopped off. Fast forward 13 years, my hair is slowly but surely getting longer with it being just passed my shoulders naturally now... and yes I’m still a blondie. I just can’t get enough of the colour or so I thought. Recently I’ve kind of hit a wall with my hair, I needed a complete change, I was sick of the usual full head of highlights and an inch off the ends. It was at this point Palmer & Scott cake to the rescue. It’s as if someone up there had been listening but my prayers had been kindly answered and I was invited along to Palmer & Scott in Blaydon for a full hair makeover. We’re not just talking about a change of colour here, oh no, we’re talking about a full head of hair extensions too. I couldn’t believe it, needless to say I was super excited.
Palmer & Scott is based within Blaydon Shopping Centre and is the new kid on the block but boy, are they taking the stage by storm! In their short time they’ve opened their diary is crammed full of bookings (I couldn’t even get booked in for a blow dry for 3 weeks time) and they have secured another salon in Sunderland so watch this space! Not only a hair salon, Palmer & Scott is a one stop shop for all your beauty needs, they have a regular aesthetics nurse who attends the salon for all things fillers and Botox, they are also going to have a beautician on site soon too!
I was invited down to the salon for a hair consultation. Believe it or not I’ve never had a hair consultation prior to a hair appointment and what a difference it makes. I felt so much more at ease and more confident in the look we were going to go for. I suffer terribly from extreme anxiety but I never felt more relaxed. My stylist is called Drew and he’s such a babe. He took a full day out of his already busy schedule to do my hair. I went in the following week, entered the salon to Lady Gaga playing in the background and I knew today was going to be a good day.
First things first, it was time to sort out my blonde. To say I previously had a full head of highlights, over the durations of the months it had turned quite blocky. Drew darkened my roots and pulled them down creating a balayage effect. Lighter blonde was added to the front to lighten up my face (which was needed 😂) and that was that. I already loved my look but the best was yet to come, bring on the hair extensions.
I’ve always worn clip in hair extensions however they’re quite a chore to put in, especially when you’ve got a 4 year old they’re not exactly on my list of priorities, even though I yearn for long locks. Drew decided on a full head of Additional Lengths Remi Cachet Ultra Tips which I had never heard of before but I put all my trust in Drew. Ultra Tip Hair Extensions are not affected by heat or product damage and are completely re-usable time and time again. They lie completely flat with the natural flow of the hair, and are fitted in place using the Remi Cachet Ultra Locks which is produced purposely for this extension type. The Ultra Tip is held in place with a lock that is compressed completely flat. I honestly couldn’t get over just how light these extensions where! To say I had a full head fitted it honestly didn’t feel like it. My hair is naturally thick too so I always worry about hair extensions not being able to blend naturally with my own hair but this was certainly not the case here. When I run my hand down my hair you honestly can’t even feel the hair extensions. The hair was super thick and the blend was out of this world, it was so natural I couldn’t actually believe this was my hair! Happiness really is a good hair day and it’s true what they say, there really is no such thing as bad hair, just people who haven’t found the right stylist.
From start to finish, I’ve never felt so relaxed in a hair salon. Drew is the master of hair and I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else now. The staff are so professional but we also had such a laugh in the whole 7 hours I was in the chair, it flew over! I enjoyed my experience so much that before I left I booked myself in for a blow dry the following week for my travels to Portugal with the girls, one things I’ve never done before as there’s always something inside me that feels lacklustre after visiting a hair salon but certainly not this time around! One thing I would like to add is, if you are interested in having hair extensions fitted yourself but worries you won’t be able to afford them, never fear! Palmer & Scott offer finance on hair so you can have Princess hair all year round!
I really can’t stress just how amazing these guys are at Palmer & Scott, you know when you meet people and you get a good vibe from them well this is how I felt as soon as I walked into the salon. I’ve had my hair extensions fitted for approximately one month now and they’re still super soft, super thick and they’re a dream to wash and dry. I’ve had so many compliments from friends, family and strangers in the street. Even my Grandma approves of my hair and she hates it when I wear hair extensions so well done Drew, you have the Queen’s approval!
I was given the appropriate after care advice when my hair was fitted and I was told my hair would last 1 year and I would have to come in every 12 weeks for the hair to be refitted for maintenance. I’ve never been so in love with my hair before and I can already tell my own, natural hair has grown so much already. My hair grows outwards more than it does lengthways and Drew told me the extensions would help pull my hair down and in return grow quicker and I can already see this happening.
The moral of the story is, invest in your hair, it’s the crown your never take off!
